Front Page & Double page semiotic analysis 

  • The first noticeable aspect of the front page is the aesthetically pleasing contrast of colours , with the black and white image of Kate Moss taking up the entirety of the page and the bright Pink masthead and white text.
  • The image of Kate Moss indicates that this magazine is high end and mainstream as Kate Moss is an incredibly famous fashion model who is recognisable globally.
  • As an audience we can see that this issue is special and celebratory through the icon of 25 and the text explaining it's an anniversary , perhaps explaining the appearance of Kate Moss.
  • However the fact Kate Moss is on the front page is made to be a huge deal as her name is only simply placed in white medium sized text at the bottom of the page

  • The headline of article is constructed to be the largest piece of text on the page 
  • - the white text with black outline and black blocked text creates a very stylish and chic design on the page , perhaps influenced by Italian designs as Italy is know for its style and chicness
  • The design of the entire article is aesthetically pleasing and stylish through the basic and classic black , the white and grey colour scheme constructs a house style of the magazine a fits it general creative design.
  • There's a unique and different style of layout on the article ; we are given an insight in the designers perhaps of the models clothing and the small to large sizing constructs a shift of focus from one model to the next.
  • The article is targeted for readers who are interested in the modelling , fashion and design industry ( why there is a list of fashion designers )  
  • - this is represented through the models posing and modelling for what seems to be a campaign

Music Video Analysis- Sativa by Jhené Aiko ft. Rae Sremmurd   (Def Jam) First opening 30 seconds of the video the mise - en -scene of the atmosphere , holographic keyboard and digital image of a female body , connotes imagery of an 'out of this world' experience and futuristic setting. - Paired with the lyrics later on the audience can conclude the characters and artists are denoting that they are high on a drug substance. ( ' I'm so high in here, been smokin' on this weed ) - additional to this analysis the name of the song 'Sativa' is a name for a form of cannabis - connoting that the purpose of the song and video is about being on drugs and joining the ' out of this world' head space.
