Planning-STORYBOARD Through creating a story I was able to construct all my ideas and visions I had created into a set plan and then into an animatic where I used my shots with the song in the background to gain a realistic idea of how my music video will turn out to be.

Planning- ANIMATIC

Planing Animatic- This was an extremely useful planning task as it aided my shot ideas into a constructed format and helped me to gather a realistic plan for my music video along with the timings and lyrics set. After this planning task I can now go out to my location and plan my shots through real life images and gain a real idea and vision for how my Music video will set out to be.
Target Audience Research  As part of my audience research I created a survey on 'survey monkey' and sent it to family and friends of the age demographic in the given brief (18-34 year olds) this was to find out what my target audience expects from a music video and what type of music genre and artists my consumers would enjoy.  Here are some of the  questions and results... From these results I gathered that the majority of my audience and consumers are of the  24-34 age group. I also learnt that R&B and soul was the leading genre of choice which has influenced my music genre choice for my chosen song , in turn with this I also figured that my audience also enjoy music videos with a narrative behind it , therefore I need to make a video with a constructed story line. Following those who clicked option 'No' on ' Do you enjoy watching music videos?' I had a following question asking for a reason why , with some answers of - ...

Front Page & Double page semiotic analysis   The first noticeable aspect of the front page is the aesthetically pleasing contrast of colours , with the black and white image of Kate Moss taking up the entirety of the page and the bright Pink masthead and white text. The image of Kate Moss indicates that this magazine is high end and mainstream as Kate Moss is an incredibly famous fashion model who is recognisable globally. As an audience we can see that this issue is special and celebratory through the icon of 25 and the text explaining it's an anniversary , perhaps explaining the appearance of Kate Moss. However the fact Kate Moss is on the front page is made to be a huge deal as her name is only simply placed in white medium sized text at the bottom of the page    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The headline of article is con...
Aesthetica - Front page semiotic Analysis Firstly , one thing to notice is the simplicity of the front page , the page is not overly crowded with text and images it have one main image and the only text on the page across the masthead. - This is a key reflection of Aesthetica's house style. This issue was released during April/May 2020 during the peak of corona virus when the world to a stand still . This front page cover portrays a message that during these unprecedent times we should all hold onto human spirit , this issue as stated is a celebration of human kinds resilience. This explains the mise-en-scene of the two women holding a hand gesture which looks like an infinity sign. This image connotes interconnection between human kind even through these uncertain times of social distancing and self-isolating. The bright colours the women are wearing emit  much needed positivity and brightness to these tough times.    The fact that both women are...
Kerrang! - Front Page semiotic Analysis   The large and alerting masthead stands out as loud and bold conveying a reflection of the magazine's house style and specialist audience - Kerrang! is devoted to rock and metal music The contrast between the bright colour of red and simplistic white creates a masthead that standout attracting readers. - this is seen across the front page included with the  black text along the masthead. this colours are quite harsh and alerting , which suits the niche music style which is loud, harsh and alerting  However the small images of green trees coming out of each side contrast the harsh colours perhaps connoting that the music group imaged in the centre page hold a different style of rock and metal music. - these trees produce a relaxing image on the eye attracting the audience to see something different of Kerrang!'s front page magazine  Again similar to The Wire the bar code is place in an unconventiona...
The Wire - Front Page&Double page semiotic Analysis the masthead is bold and the largest piece of text amongst the entire front page which attracts the audience to what they're reading.                          → the neutral colour of the white front in front of the grey toned blue background creates a subtle and minimalist house style with a relaxed nature. Issued October 2013 The simplistic house-style of the front cover is also a reflection of Matana Roberts and her image/style. she is an artist of the Jazz genre who's a saxophonist , vocalist and composer. The mise-en-scene of her image and style is also a reflection her niche music , through her grudge and edgy aesthetic with her dreadlocks and nose piercing. this look isn't one of a mainstream 'pop' artist who has to follow a particular look to fit their representation The large spacing between her name makes it stand...
Music Video Analysis - 1-800-273-8255 by Logic Ft. Alessia Cara , Khalid - (Def Jam)   To begin the name of the song is a number of  a suicide help line in the U.S ,the song's title already indicates this song is going to have correlations to mental health, suicide, self harm etc. creating a distinctive target audience who those who have these issues , Logic created this song to help them get through the tough battles in their head and around them and give them a form of subtle support. The music video appears a narrative of the teens life from the start of his life , all his monumental steps in life right through to his teenage years struggling to come with is homosexuality , being disowned , rejected and pushed , attempting to end his life , to breaking free in his adult life and getting married and have a child in a homosexual marriage all with his parents supporting him in the end. the important message to take from this is to end with , the charac...
Music Video Analysis- Sativa by Jhené Aiko ft. Rae Sremmurd   (Def Jam) First opening 30 seconds of the video the mise - en -scene of the atmosphere , holographic keyboard and digital image of a female body , connotes imagery of an 'out of this world' experience and futuristic setting. - Paired with the lyrics later on the audience can conclude the characters and artists are denoting that they are high on a drug substance. ( ' I'm so high in here, been smokin' on this weed ) - additional to this analysis the name of the song 'Sativa' is a name for a form of cannabis - connoting that the purpose of the song and video is about being on drugs and joining the ' out of this world' head space. The Red Led lighting creates a sexual romantic atmosphere alongside the close up shots of the artists body and legs in the water , a common convention of R&B music where women are presented with minimal clothing and are usually seen as objects of desire. ...
Music Video Analysis - Hello By Adele         - ( XL Recordings)  The  mise-en-scene in the opening shot is of a dirty window sill , covered in dead flies - this evokes a sense of neglect perhaps connoting the artists mindset and emotions. The dark lighting and effect could also be used to connote the artists emotions she is trying to denote.  The faded camera shot into a point of view shot , shifts the focus point giving the audience the opportunity to see things through the artists eyes. The dialogue before the music begins gives the audience a slight idea of the song and music videos narrative                                                                                                  ...
Music Video Analysis - Heavy, California by Jungle  -(XL Recordings)  Mise-en-scene-   Setting is in a field amongst a plain of bright green grass and underneath a pale blue sky which seems as if it is due to set. - this setting evokes a sense of freedom and liberation through the wide space and plain open sky. The collective artists are dancing to the song rather than conventionally lip syncing - clear the the audience that the band are quirky and hold a different image and style - suited for a group from an independent record label  They are also dancing in sync connoting uniformity within each other but not the rest of society  The clothing the artists are wearing have neutral colours and a loose fitting - again evoking a sense of freedom , this could connote that the reject restriction from the world and societies structures  Sound-  The song has a smooth , soulful beat - reflective of the...
